"I know there will be people who will be as good or as awesome or as knowledgeable as I am, but I know what makes me exceptional is this inner focus, the drive. There’s nothing that I am as good at or as passionate or brings me so much joy. I want this more than anyone in this world. And I think that sets me apart from others."
10 Writing Tips from the Master
1. Cut the boring parts - I try to leave out the parts that people skip. ~Elmore Leonard Unless you’re writing for personal reasons alone, you need to consider the attention of your readers. There’s no point is publishing content that isn’t useful, interesting, or both.
2. Eliminate unnecessary words - Substitute “damn” every time you’re inclined to write “very;” your editor will delete it and the writing will be just as it should be. ~Mark Twain I used to feel that using words like “really”, “actually”, or “extremely” made writing more forceful. It doesn’t. They only get in the way. Cut them and never look back.
3. Write with passion Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart~William Wordsworth It’s not hard to realize that unless you’re excited about your writing no one else will be.
4. Paint a picture - Don’t tell me the moon is shining; show me the glint of light on broken glass. ~Anton Chekhov Simply stating something is fine, but when you need to capture attention, using similes, metaphors, and vivid imagery to paint a picture creates a powerful emotional response.
5. Keep it simple - Vigorous writing is concise. ~William Strunk Jr. Maybe it was all those late nights, struggling to fill out mandatory 10 page papers, but many people seem to think that worthwhile writing is long and drawn out. It’s more difficult (and effective) to express yourself in the simplest possible manner.
6. Do it for love - Write without pay until somebody offers to pay ~Mark Twain When you’re just starting out it’s hard to decide where to begin. So don’t. Just start writing. A blog is a good place to start. The most valuable benefit is the feedback.
7. Learn to thrive on criticism - You have to know how to accept rejection and reject acceptance. ~Ray Bradbury Writing means putting yourself at the mercy of anonymous hecklers and shameless sycophants. Learn to make the most of the insults and distrust the praise.
8. Write all the time Quantity produces quality. If you only write a few things, you’re doomed ~Ray Bradbury The way you define yourself as a writer is that you write every time you have a free minute. If you didn’t behave that way you would never do anything. ~John Irving
9. Write what you know … or what you want to know - If any man wish to write in a clear style, let him be first clear in his thoughts; and if any would write in a noble style, let him first possess a noble soul. ~Johann Wolfgang von GoetheLearn as much by writing as by reading. ~Lord Acton. Successful writing is all about trust and authority. It makes sense to write about your area of expertise. If you don’t have an expertise, reading and writing is the best way to develop one and put it on display.
10. Be unique and unpredictable - I owe my success to having listened respectfully to the very best advice, and then going away and doing the exact opposite. ~G.K. ChestertonConsistency is the last refuge of the unimaginative. ~Oscar WildeZest. Gusto. How rarely one hears these words used. How rarely do we see people living, or for that matter, creating by them. Yet if I were asked to name the most important items in a writer’s make-up, the things that shape his material and rush him along the road to where he wants to go, I could only warn him to look to his zest, see to his gusto. ~Ray Bradbury

This is a poem I wrote almost a year ago. I can’t think of an appropriate title of it actually, so yeah. This poem of mine is all about Friendship. And as you’ve noticed, I started that word “Friendship” with a big letter because I really value my friends, especially my best friend. I know that some people might have perceived me as someone who is cold and careless, but deep down, I’m really a person with goodness, compassion, and lightheartedness—someone who stays true to his friends and makes sure that they are shrouded with comfort and merriment. True friends are really hard to find, and words won’t suffice for me to express how grateful I am to God.
Friends are the ones that are always there,
Whenever anything gives you a scare.
They’ll be there when the road gets rough,
They see you through when times are tough.
They know when to laugh, when to smile, when to cry.
They even know when all you need is a sigh.
They make you laugh when you are down,
They make a smile out of a frown.
The bond we had I shall truly miss
Of all the times , I will never forget this:
Remember the times when we shared laughters?
And also the time when you were the one who looks after?
Friendship is so special
It cannot be bought or sold
It is precious if it is brand new
Or priceless if it is old.
Just want you to know today
How special you are to me
I’ll always be here for you
For you are dear to me.
My best friend wrote this magnificent poem. On the contrary, I don’t think this is mediocre. An awesomazing start. :)
Print screen ng isang exercise ko sa CMSC2. Gumawa daw kami ng profile namin eh. Hahahahaha. 9 hours ako sa Boston nito. Para lang dito ah. Tapos yung tipong 7 am class pa pasok ko kinabukasan ko. Buti nalang natapos ko. Maganda ba?
So my summer classess just ended a few weeks ago, and I still haven’t done anything productive over the days that passed. I have like less than 20 days til classes at UP resumes. I guess I really have to do something worthy of my time, attention, and focus.
- I really need to regain my former figure—lean and not chubby (My best friend is coercing me “to get sexy”). I will be hitting again the gym and get the adequate workout I need. I stopped lifting weight since my summer classes started. Oh. they were right. Once you stop for a while. The muscles turned into a fat. Working out is indeed a lifestyle. I also need to watch out what I eat. Less fat. More protein and fiber.
- I’ll start reading novels again. I have tons of books to read here. A book challenge is interesting. I think I should start with the post-birthday gift Laurianne gave me which is Charles Dickens’ David Copperfield. Victorian fiction. Then after that read John Green’s The Fault In Our Stars. Books are love.
- I do think I need to do a TV series and Movie marathon. I keep downloading stuff via torrent in the internet, yet I don’t even watch it. Oh geez. I could imagine myself being a couch potato. My eyes would bleed.
"A call of endearment loses its essence when you use it to your friends and acquaintances alike."

Happy 17th birthday to my “DEAR” Yashmine Macaro.
So tonight was a blast. Pigged out a lot with high school friends (Leewai, Jolo, Dan, Mike, Faith, Macky, Jeremae, Dion, Becky, Jerome, Nic)
Also, we sung our hearts out at the Karaoke. Bohemian Rhapsody (which happens to be the song I sing everytime we sing at the Karaoke) was obviously the first of the many songs I sung there. And as always, they bullied my singing voice. I’m used to it. Over all, this day was awesomazing.
Happy Birthday again to my dear. I love you so much. Sorry for being too much preoccupied on your party. :”)
I need to regain my drive to read and write.
I promise I will be writing sensible and longer (?) blog posts again. :)
It breaks my heart seeing how one of the closest person in my life suffer from all the heartaches and struggles life has to offer. I realized that we are indeed just humans, flawed with emotions and feelings that can easily crumble our spirit. We have limitations. We might reassure that we canguarantee our loyalty, honesty, compassion, comfort, and the likes to people, especially the closest people in our life; but those are really not enough. Words said and comfort given is not fully enough to suffice the much needed relief they need. As much as I still want to comfort my friend, I know I have done my part and there is nothing more I could do. Only God can give the best comfort in this world. All I could do right now is to earnestly pray for him. I know I am not enough. I am fully aware that. I rest this case to God. I hope he immediately give the rest and comfort to my dear friend.
This school year.
- I’ll start reading my handouts as soon as my prof assigned those to the class.
- I’ll start making and organizing my notes as soon as possible.
- I’ll try not to see the downside of me not having someone to text with.
- I’ll try to be more approachable.
- I’ll try to be kind.
- I’ll try to be organized.
- I’ll try to clean my stuff after using them.
- I’ll try to be happy.
- I’ll try to appreciate people who cares for me. >:D<
- I’ll try to live my life to the fullest.
- I’ll try to enjoy every single day.
- I’ll try to gain some new knowledge (redundant?) in every class that I would be having.
I guess I’ll be doing the same thing too. Count me in SUPAH K. :)
